As soon as your cat or dog reaches five months old, schedule an appointment with your veterinarian for an evaluation and to discuss the best time for spaying or neutering surgery.

Blood tests aren't always required for spaying or neutering; the veterinarian will first perform a physical examination on your pet. Owners may also inquire with the veterinarian, as the need for testing depends on the individual circumstances.
